The following are the images i have taken so far..

These images wil be used for the magazine..

Tuesday, 26 February 2008

I have taken some images on digital camera, these are first experiments that i will try to improve as i take more photos..I have converted them on to the computer..The following is a rough draft of my general idea..
Improved to.. I will work on the angle of the shot, giving it a slight higher angle to make the indivdiual look recessive..The colour of the background will change to white,as it is more effective when images are placed on the double spread magazine.. I will use less colours in the photo in terms of clothing and the black board..
This is the begining of the magazine..I intend to complete one campaign at a time..Moving on from the magazine i will start the billboard poster then the poster for the bus shelter..
The images are going to be at the same angle..Edited if need be on Photoshop..This creates the effect of simularity, with the only difference of colour..
When taking my pictures:
  • My design turned out to be a good idea. People commented on the images, of course once improved will be realisitic and effective.

  • I found difficult trying to find people/ teenagers who were willing to be presented in this racism advert. I felt they were offended when i explained to them the guideline of my campaign. Though i overcome this because friends offered to help out as they understood it was college work and had to be done.

  • I experimented with all kinds of different images, though i have not rejected any so far. I will do so once i have enough images that maintain the right standards and props. I am at the stage of improvement at the moment and i am trying different appearances to pick out the best ones/ the ones to keep.

I have now completed my planning which describes in further detail what my campaign will include.. I will finish off any drafts/ hand sketches and begin taking my original images.. I am looking towards converting them onto the computer with the addition of editing each image to suit my prefrence and to acheive the suitability expected from each advertisiment..

I have completed my brief.. This is a quick summary of my project.. I will now start the drafts to my campaign.. Having done a comparison to other adverts i will continue to research in parallel with begining my own.. I will create a double paged magazine..A billboard poster..And an advertisement that can be revealed on bus stops..

The overall stlyle of my campaign will be pictures within the centre of the page and little text in the foreground.. The pictures will be placed in the background for profession reasons.. This may vary according to the time limit.. If i feel i can imporve anything on my campaign i will do so.. I aim to make my campaign look reasonably well organised and efficient in passing a message across to the audience..

As my campaign is on racism i feel it is aimed at both males and females.. I will try to include images of both genders.. It is suitable for all ethnic minorities and majorities as racism is an everyday crime, that can come from anyone of any colour..

The ideology of my advert will be that racism must stop!.. I will use harsh images because shocking images are images the audience can and will remember..

I wish to create an advert that can fit under or close to the horror genre.. This is a serious matter that must be dealt with sharply..

Today i will begin my brief.. Although i may not complete it in the lesson i aim to make a start.. I intend to explain my project and summarise my audience.. i will have reason for everything i place on my campaign..

The racism advert that i looked at last lesson can easily be compared to the rimmel advert presented by Kate Moss..Again a white female model, used to advertise this brand.. The more she applies make-up the prettier she gets..

Comparisons to the racism advert.. Both of which intend to advertise make-up but the different effects of it..
The image is a medium close up shot.. we see detailed features of Kate Moss' face to emphasisie the beauty of the make-up and the wonders it works.. We also see part of her body in a seductive pose..

Kate Moss an attractive young model is in a pose.. The racism advert shows a model turning ugly by applying this make-up, an exxagerated metaphor portraying racism.. The difference in appearance and consequence/ result shows the disparity of the 2 women..

By looking at both advertisements people may want to stop applying racism in fear of turning ugly in the eyes of everyone else..

Both adverts have the logo somewhere on the page.. The 'Rimmel' one places it on the bottom left hand corner, and the 'Racism' one places it along sie the right of the page..

I have used the internet as a source of research.. I have found some interesting pictures as a giudeline to what is expected from me..

It is vital that my campaign forfills the audiences expectations and uses pesuasive techniques in order to state a clear message and change the views of the public.. I am going to continue doing analysis on other campaigns untill i feel comfortable with what i have to acheive.. I plan to outstand every other advertisement.. To check the suitability of my campaign i will compare it to others when i have completed my task..

I will keep 3 consistant colours to support the profession of my work.. I have not decided what these are yet but they must be dark colours to maintain the evilness of the subject..

I have created a new blog and as of today i will use this blog to enter all the activities i perform in this module.. I intend to keep updating my work by recording what i do each lesson.. This will be represneted textually and then saved in to my blog.. My aim for today is to specify and find information on my campaign from different sources of research, like books, advertisements and media, however i believe the internet will be most usefull to me.. Now for the verdict, my campaign will focus on RACISM..

Racism is a crime! this is a photo of the criminal.. the advert shows a woman from white ethnic background, and how she has turned unattractive, ugly because of her actions..

The use of a white woman tells me that this is aimed predominantley at a white female audience.. Females are weaker than males and easily scared.. When it comes to looks, women are easily fooled.. So the producer of this advert has specifically chosen to hit the weak point, appearance!.. This way the massage will be harshly put across..

This image has been manipulated.. It also opposes the stereotype that women are suppose to be attractive but in cases such as this they are not..

The image is a medium close up shot as it shows her facial features in detail along with part of her body..

The image seems to be in the background, the text is in the foreground.. It is a large image that fills the page, the size of the image is important as it needs to be clear to the audience..

In the bottom right hand corner you see a logo/ phrase.. it reads "the more you apply it, the uglier you get".. The realism of the image idicates truth to the audience.. by looking at this image they should believe that racism will affect the offender and not just the victim..

In the bottom left hand corner which is intiatially the last place the audience will look (as they read from right to left, and it being the bottom of the page), there is a website.. This could be the website to either get help with racism or for those who are being racially abused..

The word "racism" is presented along the right hand side of the advert clearly next to the woman..

I have created a Blog for me to start my research.. This is the begining of the production of my campaign..
